Acne, a skin disorder most common during adolescence, is every teenager's nightmare. It may be a superficial problem but for most people, it is also an issue of self-esteem and confidence. Since acne breakouts are common during the teenage years, it poses a psychological impact on a teenager. Adolescence is a time when the youth discovers oneself and getting in touch with one’s personality. Acne, although it may not pose a serious health problem, affects teenagers greatly. There are even cases of depression, poor self-esteem and zero confidence on people with severe acne cases. While it is part of almost every teenager's life, acne can be avoided, minimized and most importantly, treated and cured - and the best of it: natural acne cures are mostly accessible to anyone and extremely inexpensive!

Of all human skin diseases, acne (Acne vulgaris) is one of the most common. Skin with a lot of sebaceous or oily follicles (face, upper part of the chest, back) is usually the most affected. Common characteristics of acne include pimples or pustules, scaly red skin or seborrhoea, blackheads/whiteheads or comedones, red or yellow spots, scars and even greasy skin. There are a lot of causes of acne, including genetics, hormones, diet and the infecting bacteria. People believe that during adolescence, there is an increase in the production of a hormone called testosterone. Another factor believed to cause acne is the production of natural oils in the body during this time.

In turn, there are also a lot of ways to treat and manage acne. These treatments may include medications with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, regular visits to the dermatologist for cosmetic medical procedures such as dermabrasion. Such treatments often cost a lot of money, especially for cosmetic procedures that require more than one session.

While it is important to know the latest advances in the field of cosmetic medicine when it comes to treatment of acne, it is also essential to note that acne can be cured in natural and organic ways. Acne can even be treated at home using home remedies and natural ingredients. All you need to know about natural and organic acne treatment is in this article. This article will also provide you of simple yet effective tips on home treatment for acne.

Natural Acne Cures

Aloe Vera – believed to have soothing and moisturizing properties, this plant that is common around the world is a well-known natural product for the skin. The thick, gooey sap from this plant is rich in enzymes with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that help heal acne-stricken skin. You may notice that most beauty products, especially those intended for acne cure, contain aloe vera extracts. However, you may use the sap straight from the plant, in all its natural glory. All you need to do is apply the sap onto your face and rinse with clear water.

Tea Tree Oil – this helps fight acne-causing bacteria and substances (called Terpenes). Tea tree oil is effective because it kills bacteria by weakening them. This substance, found in Melaleuca alternifoliais tree (usually abundant in Australia) is believed to have little, if not no side effects.

Water – we all know the health benefits of drinking water. We all know that drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day will keep us hydrated throughout the day, not to mention providing nourishment to the body, in order for it to function well. We also know that drinking at least four pints of water every day is very beneficial to our skin especially in our complexion, making our skin look supple, hydrated and healthy. Drinking water is probably the most natural acne cure because it helps promote healthy skin.

Tomato – everyone knows that tomato contains lycopene, a compound that contains anti-oxidant properties that protect the skin by improving its ability to block off harmful UV rays. Tomato (and lycopene) is known to prevent certain cancers, but it is also important to note that it is also one of the most effective natural acne cures. Some people drink tomato juice regularly, some people like to use tomato pulp in washing their faces, some people like to eat tomato and lycopene-rich diet. It really depends on your preferences, just make sure that you get enough tomatoes in your regular diet.
