We're all familiar with the economic recession in the US that affected millions of people. The whole country suffered the economic blow, resulting to millions of dollars lost and millions of people losing their jobs. Until now, the country (and the world) are still suffering from the recession. As the economy is slowly getting back to its feet, most college graduates are faced with the dilemma of finding the right-paying job. And even high school students are now thinking twice of what course to take up for college, because let's face it, there are more jobs offered in certain fields of profession than in others. Instead of being entrepreneurs and waiting for their big money making idea and wanting to become super rich, many students prefer a route of financial stability and look to more career-bound jobs to ensure them a monthly paycheck.

This article focuses on the top 3 highest paying entry level jobs in the US. It is important to note that I will list them down by the field of expertise in order to cater to the wide selection of jobs out there. This article is written with the hope that our young and future workforce will be inspired to help rebuild the nation and bring back the economic glory of the United States of America.

1. Engineering

In early 2010, the U.S. Department of Labor noted engineers to be among the highest paying entry level jobs in the country. Engineering is one major field and there are a lot of jobs that can be generated, depending on the expertise. But Petroleum Engineers and Electrical Engineers are two of the highest paying entry level jobs.

Petroleum Engineers are responsible for the design, supervision and process of extracting natural gas and oil from the ground and transferring them into storage tanks. Petroleum is one of the most important commercial needs of the world today. Petroleum Engineers are reported to be paid $119,140 yearly.

Electrical Engineers, on the other hand, are reported to earn $85,830 yearly. Their job doesn't come cheap because Electrical Engineers are responsible for design, test, improvement and repair of electronics. With our modern world where electronics are used everywhere from billboards to computers to machines, Electrical Engineering is not only one of the highest paying entry level job, it's also probably one of the most in-demand jobs today.

2. Computer and Information Technology

We live in modern times where computers basically operates almost anything. From massive constructions to little robots, computers are very essential in our everyday life. This is why jobs requiring computer and information technology are one of the highest paying entry level jobs in the United States. For example, a computer hardware engineer earns about $97, 570 annually. Entry level IT (Information Technology) jobs in software development has the earning potential of $59,000. Depending on your skill and expertise (some jobs require you to have a degree in computer programming) in application software development and design, your entry level salary can even be higher.

It is safe to say that jobs in the computer and information technology industry will probably never go out of place in this fast-paced economy mainly because almost everything around us is operated by computers. Everyday the IT industry comes up with new and improved ways to simplify our lives. And for this reason alone, you can be assured that your computer and software knowledge will always be in-demand.

3. Medical Field

The medical field, like engineering and information technology, covers thousands of jobs that all offer a great finance resume. From major jobs like surgeons to people working in the medical laboratories, medical professions have been considered as one of the highest paying entry level jobs in the United States.

Registered Nurses probably have the most dynamic and highest paying jobs today. Requiring an associate's or bachelor's degree, a registered nursing degree can be obtained in two years, and can help you earn, at entry level, a minimum of $63,000 annually.

Physical Therapists, on the other hand, are reported to be earning around $60,000 every year. Their work focuses on rehabilitating patients with serious physical injuries, those who have been disabled and they can even work with patients who need to get back to their normal physical functioning after a serious surgery.

Of course, doctors are also among the highest paid in the country today. Depending on their field of expertise or specialization (surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesiology), their basic entry level salary can vary. For example, surgeons can earn up to $206,770 and anesthesiologists can earn around $197,570 annually (information based on Forbes List of Best Paying Jobs of 2009). But it is important to note that while these jobs earn hundreds of thousands of dollars annually, having the expertise in the field require years and years of practice and continuing education, so it's certainly not an easy way to get rich fast. Being a doctor is not only a job to make money, it's something that really has to fit your personality.
