How to Get the Most Out of Your Treadmill Workout
72Many people don't like treadmills because the find it boring to run on them. But others love them and there is no doubt that it is a very effective way to stay healthy. A good treadmill workout is one of the most efficient workouts there is.

1. Get Busy!
There are plenty of things you can do while running on your treadmill. Watch TV, listen to your favorite music or podcast or read a book! Some treadmills even have integrated desks so that you can do paperwork on them. You just have to look around the room, there are plenty of things you can do while working out that will keep you from getting bored.
2. Move Your Treadmill
Moving your treadmill to another room has a huge effect on your motivation. The whole setting will be a new one and it will be an entirely different experience. If you have a small or portable treadmill, you can even take it to the garden when the weather is nice. Trust me, a change in scenery will change your whole attitude towards working out.
3. Move yourself!
This is the alternative to moving your treadmill. You can just take a break and remove yourself from the treadmill for a few weeks (four to six weeks works great for most people). But don't stop working out, find something else that is fun! Jogging, walking or cycling are great outdoor sports you can do during the summer. If it's cold outside or the weather is bad, try indoor sports like yoga or badminton. You will feel fresh and motivated when you get back to your electric treadmill.
4. Join a gym!

Another way of taking a break from your own used treadmill is using an other treadmill for a while. But you don't have to buy a treadmill to do this, getting a membership at your local gym and using their treadmills for a month. You can even meet with your friends there, it's more fun when you do it together. Working out on new motorized treadmills will change the pace and reawaken your interest and motivation. You will feel this change again when your return to your own treadmill at home!
5. Play with the pace!
Try to increase the pace! If you already run on maximum level, decrease it for some days. You can also switch the pace while workout and have some fun with it. This is probably the simplest way to spice up your treadmill workout, but it doesn't work for everyone. However, if you're a playful person, chances are good that you might like it.
6. Buy New Treadmill Equipment
Just a little piece of treadmill equipment can make the whole workout interesting again. Maybe it is a pair of new running shoes, maybe it is new workout DVD. Maybe it is just a treadmill mat or maybe it is a whole new treadmill. All these little pieces of equipment make working out on your treadmill fun and exciting again.

One final note: get an exercise routine! If you don't have one at the moment this is another great thing to spice up your workout. You should do something to warm your muscles up and do some stretching. Do some additional stretching after the workout.
